Description:

This project entailed hoisting around 40 tonnes of scaffolding plant over a busy Regent St up onto the university roof. This meant that combined with a very stringent programme the health and safety requirements were extremely high. Good liaison with the client enabled a strike and shift programme to be drawn up which allowed for the works to be completed within the allotted timescale. This plant then had to be lowered down the rear of the building to allow a scaffold that had been specifically designed to keep loadings off of the low level roofs to be built. There were some very historic roof lights that had to be protected at all costs – thankfully our considerate operatives performed admirably allowing a potentially troublesome project being completed successfully and on time for all parties.

Description:

This contract involved the complete re-roofing of all sections of Livingstone House whilst at the same time allowing a full external refurbishment of the block. To ensure that the tenants could remain in residence the Client decided to provide a full scaffold that would incorporate a temporary roof. In discussions with the Main Contractor, Admiral suggested the use of a lightweight Haki temporary roof system. (For more details of this type of scaffold please refer to our specialist page.)

The roof proved challenging because it had to cover four sections of Livingstone House, each of which abutted at right angles a roof of a different height. Admiral designed a scheme which allowed for spine beams to bridge the lower roofs allowing the abutment to be made watertight.

Description:
This contract was for the complete window replacement of a large mansion block on the busy Marylebone Rd in NW1. That in itself produced a few problems as the footpath would always be busy and the shops did not want their trade hindered. To counter this problem Admiral erected a gantry through which the public could pass and completely shielded the scaffold in flame retardant plastic sheeting as a protection to anything that may have inadvertently fallen off of the scaffold. The obstruction to the shop fronts was kept to a minimum by the use of a series of beamed structures. The other abiding problem of the contract was the very tight contract period afforded by the Client. By close monitoring of the programme Admiral were able to satisfy this requirement.
